About Festival

Rakija Fest

Belgrade Rakija Fest is the central international event dedicated to the promotion of rakija as the traditional spirit of the Balkans and its peoples. For eighteen years, we have been nurturing the culture of rakija production and consumption, shaping the Serbian and regional rakija scene.

Rakija is a strong alcoholic beverage produced exclusively by distillation of pure fruit. In Serbia, plum rakija is the most widespread, while in recent decades distillates made from pear, apricot, quince, and apple have also gained popularity. Rakija produced in this region has many specific characteristics, and Rakija Fest has for years been the leading platform for their promotion. Over the past eighteen years, tens of thousands of visitors have had the opportunity to taste top-quality distillates and learn more about production technology, the market, and innovations. The festival is a unique occasion where producers, consumers, tasting and evaluation experts, as well as those encountering rakija for the first time, come together in one place.

Evaluation

The Belgrade Rakija Fest jury, composed of dipl. ing. Vladimir Vučetić, Prof. Dr. Predrag Vukosavljević, dipl. ing. Ljuba Urošević, dipl. ing. Ana Lapčević, and dipl. ing. Ljubiša Stanković, evaluates rakijas every year, giving producers the opportunity to receive an independent assessment of their distillates. Recently, we have also introduced packaging design evaluation, further motivating producers to position themselves on the market in a high-quality and professional manner.

The festival continuously educates both producers and consumers. Since 2025, it has been enriched with a sensory rakija tasting course, offered under the name Rakija Experience, giving all interested visitors the opportunity to learn how to assess rakija quality.
